Walking is along field-paths and tracks, with several short sections of road-walking, mostly on quiet, narrow roads. Some of these paths are rarely walked and some are difficult to find. All stiles were present when walked.
Ashover offers three pubs including the Black Swan (actual name), the outside of which has been used in at least two series of the TV drama 'Peak Practice', (the inside is quite different to that portrayed in the TV studio set). All three pubs offer good food menus and a choice of ales. On this walk I use The Crispin Inn, which is next to the church. The return walk is shorter and has most of the road-walking. Further road-walking in Ashoverhay can save a little distance, but at the expense of some good views, with the path following along the ridge of the hill that this hamlet stands upon. Some paths in Ashoverhay are in the course of being diverted, to avoid some houses; there are marked diversions.
