Wye Valley Walk - Bigsweir Bridge - Offa's Dyke Path – Redbrook

The outward route is flat and follows the River Wye. After crossing the river at Bigsweir the route follows the Offa's Dyke Path, which is well-waymarked, all the way back to Redbrook. The woods are beautiful, with bluebells and wild garlic in the spring, colours and fungi in the autumn, birds and views all the year round.

My wife and I walked this early April and it is a very pleasant walk and easy to follow. Parking adjacent to the A466 is easy. The quoted height gain of 420 metres must be cumulative as Offa's Dyke path does go up and down quite a bit but none the climbs are long or steep.

Height gain just from Bigsweir to top of Offa's Dyke above Redbrook is about 200m.

We did this walk yesterday: very fine with the autumn colours just coming on. However, I suspect the height gain is 420 feet not metres.
