A woodland park, railway paths, lanes and a little road-walking makes up this pleasant walk in the fairly flat countryside straddling the County Durham / Tees Valley border.

The walk starts from the interesting and popular Visitor Centre at Wynyard Woodland Park with a little railway path-walking along the Castle Eden Walkway to pass through the delightful old village of Thorpe Thewles. From here lane- and field- walking precedes a little road-walking on roads without pavements but with generous grassy verges. Byways and bridleways follow through fields and along lanes before the route once again travels along a short section of pavement-free road. A mile-long section of field-walking on a bridleway is then encountered before the route once again intersects the Castle Eden Walkway for a pleasant return to the Wynyard Woodland Park Visitor Centre.

Great walk, but did it when not too muddy. Just a note though the byway, which runs from 12 to 14 is closed to everything except pedestrians and it has been pretty much destroyed by 4x4s. Its tough going in the dry, wouldn't fancy it in the wet.
