This walk starts off near Wythop Church and follows a path up onto a terrace which offers amazing views towards Binsey and the Embleton Valley. The route ia easy and works its way around Sale Fell before taking a direct path to the top. For such a low fell by Lakeland standards, Sale Fell offers superb views all round. The descent is gentle and heads over a smaller subsidiary summit and down to a bridleway that heads round the fell to Wythop Mill. Along the path you will come across the remains of Wythop Old Church, with three walls standing and some finer details scattered about the place. It is believed the chapel was erected in 1673 but could date back to the 14th Century. Its stone lintel, now in the porch of the new church, carries the date of a 1673 rebuilding. On arrival at Wythop Mill the return route follows the road back to the church, with open views down to Embleton on the left.
