From Xiva our way takes us along the PR CV 216 through the most delightful countryside high above the gorge. In more open cattle country we soon head northwards to pass the farm Mas Ripolles with the tiny Ermita Vallivana behind it. Next we have an attractive and easy descent as we twist and turn our way down to the canyon bottom. A short climb brings us to the amazing Cueva Gallines that has been walled in as an animal enclosure. Further up we join a wide track and begin an easy ramble back towards Xiva. The last part takes us down onto a truly spectacular footpath at the edge of the canyon with unforgettably dramatic scenery. All too soon we are walking down the final stretch of footpath back into the pueblo nestling below us.

We visited the Morella area for a few days, specifically to walk some of this website's interesting routes there. We had great weather (May). This was a particularly fine walk, with memorable moments - particularly the spooky deserted farmhouse. The emergency services happened to be out in force that day for what seemed to be a large-scale exercise, but we quickly lost them after the first few hundred metres (apart from the occasional helicopter)! The directions were clear. The gorge walk towards the end was spectacular, but terrifying if you have a fear of heights!
