The walk covers varied terrain, including pasture and woodland and the Medway riverside. On the way you will glimpse the beautiful Royden Hall, parts of which are Jacobean; it is now empty, but used to be a Transcendental Meditation centre. The Greensand Way continues to St Michael's Church, East Peckham. The Grade II listed church is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust and open to the public. This is a very pleasant stop, with lovely views towards the Weald of Kent. On a clear day you can see Hadlow Folly in the distance. Shortly after leaving the church, look out for the unusual carriageway entrance on the left of the lane, leading to Mereworth Castle, a Grade I listed Palladian country house owned by His Excellency Mohammed Mahdi Al-Tajir, a former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in London of the United Arab Emirates, who purchased it in 1976 for $1.2 million. It is not generally accessible to the public, but does open on rare occasions for guided tours. The other church en route is at Nettlestead; it is also open to the public and has renowned 15th Century stained glass windows. The final section is along a pretty stretch of the River Medway.
