This walk was originally submitted by Jim Grindle. Walkingworld is very grateful for Martin Jordan taking over the walk, August 2021.

Three small villages are joined on this walk with a stretch of the Grand Union Canal. Thatched cottages and quiet fields with modest views make it especially appealing. There are no great heights to climb and the whole thing makes a good half-day's walk, equally suitable for summer or the shorter daylight hours of winter.

I found this to be a pleasant walk alongside the canal and through the surrounding countryside. There are a few high points from which you get good views of the surrounding countryside (which to be fair is a little flat around here) You also pass through some attractive villages. Instructions were clear, but two warnings: the wording of instruction 13 assumes you are looking at the photo. I wasn't. When you reach the road, turn left, follow the road until you meet a bridleway on the left. Instruction 16 mentions an embankment crossing a stream (which is just about at point 17). It was all overgrown when I got there and the clearest 'path' actually went down to the stream, causing me to double back and find the embankment. After the embankment there are now two gates in rapid succession rather than just the one which you go through before turning left and walking along the lower edge of the field.

Countyside a little bland to be honest. First bit of the walk along the canal probably the best bit. Be careful on the last bit of the walk from point 17 onwards as many footpaths around and not that clearly signposted. It is very easy to overshoot here and end up heading for the village of Pottersbury instead of the start of the walk at Yardley Gobion
