Stage 2 of the Yorkshire Wolds Way is quite short compared to Stage 3. To more equally balance the days, you may consider continuing to Londesborough. However, this option is much trickier, logistically.

The walk starts in the village of South Cave, just below the western escarpment of the Wolds. We then climb gradually up onto the escarpment. The walk itself doesn't pass through any other settlements, but passes through a number of the dry chalk valleys for which the Yorkshire Wolds are justly famous. Comber Dale, Weedley Dale and the wooded East Dale are the first three, and then later, Swin Dale.

This section ends at the little village of Goodmanham, but there is an optional finish at (the much larger) Market Weighton, by following the western branch of the Yorkshire Wolds Way at waymark 24. If you do intend to finish at Market Weighton, you can use Walk 2090 to start the following stage, which follows the western branch of the Wolds Way onwards to Londesborough.

Dog walkers, please note that there are a few dog-unfriendly stiles en route, and areas where livestock may be present.
