Stage 3 of the Yorkshire Wolds Way is the longest stage. You may consider ending the previous stage in Londesborough, which balances the lengths of the days, but the logistics of this option are trickier.
The walk starts in the delightful Wolds village of Goodmanham before crossing the Wolds high ground to the equally beautiful village of Londesborough, via the Londesborough Estate. The Way then takes us along the western edge of the Wolds, with views stretching east over the Vale of York, to the Pennines. After skirting Nunburnholme village, the Way climbs back to the western ridge, but quickly turns east, running high above the stunning Millington Dale.
It's here where the Yorkshire Wolds Way takes you by surprise. All the climbs so far have been gradual, but it now starts to introduce more taxing climbs, and the first one, crossing Sylvan Dale, is one the hardest.
Millington Dale becomes Pasture Dale, and then it's over farm land to Huggate, and onwards to Horse Dale and Holm Dale. Climbing gradually up to our destination, Fridaythorpe.
Dog walkers please note that there are a small number of dog-unfriendly stiles en route, and also areas where livestock may be present.
