The walk is a circular to the south of Youlgreave and unlike most walks in the White Peak, it does not follow a river or a dale, even though it crosses both. Much of the walk is on bridleways so that it has only three stiles as it crosses pastures high above the River Bradford. The views from the highest ground are vast and the walk presents few difficulties, making an ideal half-day out from a village with three welcoming pubs.

Pleasant walk, however we did get slightly lost on section 10. Please note that the gate and fingerpost no longer exist and that the walk into the woods is between two stone pillars. This is opposite the top entrance/exit for the short which takes you off the road for a short distance around a left and right bend.
