The walk was developed by Aston Rowant Parish Council and is called the Aston Rowant Discovery Trail. The Trail is stile-free and fully waymarked. The circular route is 5.3m but with the extension to include a pub and hotel it's 6.2m.

Starting at the little village of Aston Rowant, close to the M40 and the escarpment of the Chilterns, the walk begins with a simple, level walk across farmland until the steep slopes of the Chilterns are reached. At the top of the hill the walk takes you through the woods of a nature reserve to views from the top of Beacon Hill. After the descent the walk passes through the village of Lewknor, with a handy pub, before continuing back to the start.

We walked this truly delightful walk on 9 Oct and found it a lovely experience. I downloaded the walk to my GPS which was out of action between Waypoints 4 to 10 due to the tree cover. However the GPS was not really needed over the entire walk as the route was so well marked. The inclusive Sculptures Talking Trail was a lovely surprise and we took much longer than the stated duration to complete the walk as we just had to hear all of the local primary school's children's comments at each sculpture. The Leathern Bottel's bacon, brie and cranberry baguette plus the pint of Brakspears' finest completed a thoroughly enjoyable day.
