This delightful little walk takes in some of the most spectacular scenery and dramatic footpaths in the region. The route is very old, being part of the ancient silk trail from Moorish times. The route starts in the pretty village of Busquístar and descends into the Río Trevélez Gorge, climbing out via the dramatic Escarihuela de Busquístar path to the Trevélez road.
After a short road section (very quiet), the route again descends past the 4th Century ruins of Arab baths to the gorge floor, by an even more spectacular path with breathtaking views into the gorge and over to the charming villages of Pitres and Pórtugos. Before returning to Busquístar, you can visit Ferrírola and if you really are a glutton for punishment, you can also climb to the site of the mezquita, high on the promontory overlooking the gorge.
