The walk starts in the lesser-known Cornish beach of Duckpool, on the north coast of the county. Huge golf ball-shaped domes and radio dishes form an unusual but interesting backdrop as we walk a short stretch of the South West Coast to Stanbury Mouth. Here we head inland and uphill to the quiet Cornish village of Woodford, before returning through the broadleaved National Trust woodland of the Coombe Valley.

We did this walk on a blustery day in September 2026. The initial ascent on a narrow path from Duckpool car park has a steep drop to the sea and walkers with vertigo would find it difficult. The wooden bridge at WP 17 is closed. The stream was shallow and passable using small stepping stones when we visited (after a dry summer) but could be a problem in winter or after heavy rain.
