This walk can be split into two sections as follows:-
Section 1. The walk starts in the town of Radcliffe which has easy access for both driving and public transport. It follows part of the disused Manchester, Bolton and Bury canal before dropping down to the River Irwell which is crossed. After crossing the river the walk continues upstream to reach an abandoned railway line. The railway line is followed to reach a woodland park.
Section 2. After walking through the woodland park you follow some suburban roads to reach a residential area. There is a short section through this area before a second section of woodland which is passed through to reach the railway line for a second time. After a short section along the railway line you cross the river again via a viaduct. The last section follows a road before crossing the canal and the end of the walk.
