Waldridge Fell is a wonderfully wild heath, close to the city of Newcastle, on the outskirts of Chester-le-Street. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is one of the few remaining areas of 'Lowland Heath' in the North East. This walk leads you around the fells and for the keen-eyed will provide sightings of weasels, voles and lizards, not to mention a multitude of butterflies. In autumn the gorse brings the hills alive with its vibrant gold.
