This walk takes in part of the Wye Valley Walk and explores some of Piercefield Woods, ancient woodlands, mixed woods with a carpet of ferns and plenty of birdlife. There are fine views of the river down through the trees. There are no great ascents or descents.

Did the walk in January, which meant there was little foliage and therefore good views of the river. The downside was that the paths were muddy and slippery. No problems with following the route (our GPS measured the distance as 3.64 miles, which, as we did the walk in 1.5 hours, seemed reasonably accurate).

01/12/06 Between waymarks 2 and 3 as you approach The Giants Cave, the footpath is currently closed due to a landslip. (The notice is dated Sept 06.) You can actually proceed to the Cave - the landslip is further along the path, an alternative route is suggested to continue on The Wye Valley Walk (via the main road through St Arvans). Also a typo on Waymark 3, the distance is 1000mtrs! Very pleasant walk.
