This walk begins one mile from Gresford. It goes through an area reclaimed from the great open-cast mining areas around Wrexham, now revegetated and with a fascinating sculpture trail. Gradually it moves into tranquil fields by the River Alyn by the remains of Bryn Alyn Hill Fort before coming back to the 21st Century.

Enjoyed this walk, but the field part is like a quagmire in winter, so a better route may be to turn left onto B4205 anf pick up the route again at the Alyn park entrance near the end.
