This is one of the walks promoted from the Secret Hills Discovery Centre - The Wart Hill Wander - which is well-marked on the ground.

I have worked out a more appealing finish to the 'official' walk, which extends the amount of river-walking and uses some paths across arable fields near the town.

This walk is dedicated to the memory of my uncle, the late Sergeant Major J Peall, M.M. of the King's Shropshire Light Infantry; it was with him that I climbed my first hill in the county when I was a boy.

This turned out to be quite a difficult route to follow, mainly because a lot of the signs and post have either disappeared or have been broken and not repaired. We had to rely on following the GPS on the Walkingworld app on occasions. Having said that it is a walk with some great views and worth persevering. Note: At point 34 the crossing at the railway line has been closed until 2023. There is a signpost showing a diversion sign which takes you to the level crossing at the end of the field.
