This walk takes you to the most northern of the Carneddau at 2,000ft. It just makes the magic number. A long walk out from the historic town of Conwy (two hours) gives glorious views of Anglesey, Conwy, out to Liverpool and the Conwy Valley. There is an easy walk to the summit and more views further down the Conwy Valley and the Carneddau Range.

I did this walk on 22/05/09, and have to say that we rarely managed to follow the instructions! We kept going off course (wondering how on earth we'd managed to do so), eventually getting more or less back on course with the help of my companion's GPS. Given that the weather was pretty good, and a degree of familiarity with Tal y Fan on my part, I'm still scratching my head over this. Still, it's relatively easy underfoot for North Wales, with very pleasant views. Be prepared for some rocky stuff near the summit though.

Excellent instructions however the walk description quotes (I think) a gentle climb to the summit or similar. I have to say I found it anything but gentle (even though I've not been out 'seriously' walking *that* much recently). The ascent to the summit is not overly long but steep and I'd personally grade it as 'fairly short but steep and tiring'. Ron Atkinson
