This pleasant walk starts from the car park at Chelford Railway Station. The village is the heart of a mixed farming area and has a busy agricultural market. It also has a farmers' market on a Sunday, where fresh, local-grown produce and a whole range of other items may be purchased. With the market behind you, you venture onto open farmland with good views of the Peak District summits of Shutlingsloe and Shining Tor.

You will have the opportunity to visit the Church of St Mary's in Nether Alderley, which dates back to about 1300. The red sandstones of the church are of the same type that were used in the building of Nether Alderley Mill and the old school buildings which were built in the late 1500s and early 1600s.

After leaving Nether Alderley you will cross pastures, with good views back to the church. You will have a short walk down a quiet country lane before you pass through woodland with a babbling brook and out into farmland on the edge of Chelford Village.

We walked this on a lovely sunny October afternoon and really enjoyed it. The start had changed with a new housing estate replacing the Chelford agricultural offices.

Start of walk is a bit uninspiring. But it gets better and great with dogs. Only one field of sheep encountered!

This was a lovely easy walk and great for spotting wildlife. The roads in Chelford get very busy on a Sunday because of the farmers market.
