The best train to catch is the 07:48 from Spean Bridge; there is space at the station to park.

From the station follow the signposted way north-west to Loch Treig and walk round its southern end to Creaguaineach Lodge. From the lodge enter the Lairig Leacach, keeping to the left of the river. There is a path on the other side that ends up at the bothy as well. Just after starting, the path does go through a small gorge and then rejoins the river. Good boots are needed and gaiters would be a help as the path is boggy in places. Also there are many small streams to ford and just by the bothy there is a wider river to cross, but it is easily done.

The bothy should be reached by lunchtime and is an excellent place to stop. The bothy logbook is a good read; we noticed that the Doctor and Rose visited here in July 2040, at least according to the entry!

Outside the bothy, the track rises slightly to the head of the pass and continues to Spean Bridge via Leanachan Forest, Corriechoille, picking up the road alongside the River Spean back to the station at Spean Bridge.

It is also worth a mention that the start point at Corrour Station could also be used to walk to Fort William (20 miles) and Kinlochleven (15 miles), catching the train from Fort William (07:35). There is a bus to Fort William from Kinlochleven departing at 18:38, but check locally first.

I did a bit of this from Corrour to Loch Treig and back to Loch Ossian hostel in Sept 2011. The first section beside the railway is very wet and boggy but it is a fine walk to Loch Treig. It neatly filled the time between the arrival of the train at 3.20 and tea time! The walk back to Loch Ossian hostel is all on a good estate road.
