At first the path is not very good and liable to be muddy. It follows the bank of the Conon for the first three miles, between the river and large, open fields. At the wooden bridge leading over to Dunglass Island, an extension may be made to the walk by walking the two miles round the island. After leaving the river the path improves greatly. It climbs through very old oaks and beeches and through a selection of very old, stately, imported trees, the specimen ones named. From the crest of the ridge there are extensive views to the Black Isle. The route can be muddy. For a family walk, the route to and around Dunglass Island and return would be suitable.
