Harlaw - Black Hill - Den's Cleugh - White Cleugh - Maidens Cleugh - Bell's Hill - Harlaw

A walk of some variety incorporating a steep but short climb to a lesser-known and rarely visited Pentland hill, a quiet valley and the minimum of popular and busier tracks. The views from Black Hill and its ridge are extensive. The hill appears to get its name from the heather which makes the early stage of the ascent more demanding.

After crossing the wall at the Black Springs finger post there is now a well defined farm track going left and right. Ignore it and walk SE as shown by the Black Springs sign. Between Wpts 6 & 7, and 8 & 9 the tracks are being repaired. Be prepared for mud!
