Ramsdown Hill, together with St Catherine's Hill and Blackwater Hill (see Walk 7644), forms part of a ridge between the Avon and Stour Valleys.
The surrounding heathland was originally cleared by Bronze Age man. It now provides habitat for a variety of wildlife, including Dartford warblers and stonechats, sand lizards, heath grasshoppers and dragonflies.
Paths lead through pine plantations to the broad, fenced top of Ramsdown Hill. Take a pair of binoculars for views of aircraft on the final approach to Bournemouth Airport from the east.
