Sacriston - Daisy Hill - Nettlesworth - Kimblesworth - Kimblesworth Grange - Witton Gilbert - Sacriston
A circular walk through the rolling hills in the countryside to the north-west of Durham City. The route includes a good mix of road-, field- and lane-walking, including several small and medium sized villages with a coalmining heritage. The route also reveals good views of the East Durham countryside.
The walk starts from Sacriston, climbs a little on pavements and then descends through fields with good panoramic views of east Durham. The route intersects and passes through the adjoining villages of Nettlesworth and Kimblesworth before a little lane-walking takes you to the hamlet of Kimblesworth Grange. Field-walking then follows before the walk enters the village of Witton Gilbert. From here the route changes direction and heads north through fields, lanes and woods to arrive back at Sacriston.
