This easy circular walk starts alongside the river Weaver at Nantwich and is full of variety, with parkland, quaint river bridges, rivers, lakes and meadows. There are some short stretches along roads, but the route is tree lined for much of the way and mostly level. There are no narrow bridges, stiles, kissing gates or snickets as beyond the riverbank parkland the paths and tracks are also suitable for horses. Some fields have sheep in, and you will pass a new housing estate with a rustic children's playground alongside your path. Eventually you will be able to enjoy the great panoramic views over the town from the canal embankment which is high above it. As the canal bridges were built in the 18th century, they are all grade ll listed and part of our industrial archaeology. This is a shorter version of walk 8356 and includes instructions for walkers from moored canal boats.

The walk is suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. The route is also suitable for wheelchair users on days when the meadow is firm; and you should be able to cope easily with children's buggies; the route is also excellent for dogs. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled such as strong trainers or stout shoes, and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route there are no facilities or toilets except for the hotel and pub near the start and finish of the walk, but you should be able to find all other facilities in the town centre. There are no picnic tables, but numerous bench seats along the river and canal. If you book in advance at the Cheshire Cat Hotel which is near your car park you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
