Shaped like a crooked chimney, the Devil's Chimney is a rock pinnacle above a disused quarry, that has been a local landmark for generations. Its origins remain a mystery, but a likely explanation is that a section of rock was left when an incline was created, to allow stone to be removed, which has been weathered over the years and possibly misshaped by mischievous quarrymen!

The walk follows the Cotswold Way around the top of the Cotswold Edge overlooking the south side of Cheltenham, passing the Devil's Chimney along the way. Leaving the Cotswold Way, the walk returns via the picturesque villages of Upper Coberley and then Coberley, at the head of the Churn Valley.
