The walk starts in Downham, which is 'frozen in time' as local restrictions ban road markings, visible aerials, telephone wires etc. As a result of this the village has been used as the backdrop for films and TV series. According to Wordsworth, the best churchyard view in England is from St Leonard's in Downham over Pendle Hill. The route passes the base of Warsaw Hill which is an ancient 'mud mound', so good for fossil hunting before taking advantage of a pub lunch in Worston. After this the walk makes its way around the base of Pendle Hill back to Downham.
