From the station you follow Bergholt Road to Braiswick and then it will be field-paths plus the crossing of the A12 and a stretch of the Essex Way before arriving at Great Horkesley. Pass the Half Butt Inn before walking through built-up areas to arrive at Horkesley Heath. From here you follow a few paths before two long stretches of fairly quiet country lanes to arrive at Myland. Soon you pass beside Colchester Football Club on a long path to reach more built-up areas, where you continue along roads to arrive at Colchester General Hospital. Pass through the grounds where you can stop at the picnic tables beside the pond for a bite to eat. The hospital has two food shops within (remember your mask if you intend going in). The final stretch is a couple of roads before arriving back at the station.
