This is a beautiful little walk around the tranquil setting of Loweswater. There is ample parking along the roadside at Waterend which is the best place to start the walk but do arrive early during holiday times as even this quiet corner of the lakes can throng with walkers. The first part of the walk covers the higher ground and follows a footpath up to a disused road over to Mosser. The view down to the lake and surrounding fells is stunning, even during bad weather! The path up to the Mosser road isn't too steep and is well worth the small amount of effort for the views. The descent down to the Loweswater road is gentle as is the route round to the lakeshore, which passes through a National Trust car park at Maggie's Bridge (alternate parking). The path then follows the lakeshore path as it meanders through the woodland, past Holme Wood Bothy and ends just short of the car park. After the final bit of ascent and more great views the path finishes just by the roadside parking area.
