A surprisingly easy ascent along the Pennine Way to the top of Fountains Fell to sample the wonderful panoramic view. The return is made across a sketchy, wild moorland path that descends quite gently to join the outward path.

I walked this with my wife on 060613 in lovely sunny weather. It is a great short walk which allows you to climb the fell without having to gain too much height. The views from the top are excellent Pen Y Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside can easily be seen the view down to Mallam Tarn is awesome. I walked along the ridge from the top and also bagged Darnbrook Fell this adds about 2.5 miles to the walk and 400 or so feet in height gain but is easily attainable. Directions are spot on and are easy to follow.
