The walk is a pleasant stroll - not too much 'up' involved - through countryside and the grounds of a 'posh house'.

Be sure to take in the Abbey House Gardens. It was great for daffodils when we went. Interestingly, Abbey House Gardens is occasionally home to the 'naked gardeners', on selected days of the year (all given on their website).

2/19/2017 - Barry Hood

2nd time we've done this walk (1st time was 1st April 2012) and a number of things to note. WP3 there is no kissing gate. WP7 the double stiles are almost impassable and the farmer has dumped a huge pile of ruble and earth directly behind it and you can only circumnavigate and then head for the Leylandii (don't go right, through the farm buildings!). When you reach the Style here it gets confusing because the yellow waymarker points to the right but in fact there are 2 public footpaths, you need to go slight right and head towards Cole Park Manor House. The landowner at Cole Park has erected electric fencing which blocks the footpath in several places - not very charitable!

6/28/2015 - Saira Jackson

We attempted this walk June 2015 being regular users of Walkingworld. Unfortunately the directions given and paths used for this walk are poor. At 3 after crossing the stile, turn left up the field edge. After crossing the track at 4 the path went straight ahead up across the field to rejoin the lane. At 7 the double stile was completely overgrown with nettles. We went left and eventually found ourselves by the leylandii hedge and the stile but no path!Improvised to get to the end of 7 but gave up at 8. The small field was overgrown, battled our way through, searched far edge but no sign of stream crossing. Gave up and retraced our steps all the way back to 6 amd walked along main road into Malmesbury. Disappointing.
