Alsop Station - Alsop en le Dale - Coldeaton Bridge - Alstonefield - Hall Dale - Alsop Station
A challenging walk with frequent steep climbs and descents, including Gypsy Bank between Coldeaton Bridge and Alstonefield.
The route follows a wide circular route, not exactly taking the most direct route, to include some paths I have not previously used.
Crossing the Dove Valley in both directions and climbing back to high ground, there are several areas with outstanding views over surrounding hill and dales.
The pub used on this walk is The George in Alstonefield. A popular venue with walkers and usually busy, even mid-week, they are walker-friendly and welcoming. They do request muddy boots to be covered or removed. Good value and choice is offered on the food menu at reasonable prices. There is usually a wide choice of interesting beers available; when walked, Jennings' Sneck Lifter was available. Outside there are several bench tables in front of the pub and a few others in the car park area at the back. There are now notices posted requesting that only food purchased at the pub be consumed at these. There is plenty of space and seating available around the green area directly in front of the pub for eating your own food.
