This is an excellent hill walk which starts over meadows and countryside along paths which are quite well used and often visible, so you are unlikely to get lost. It's more a figure-of-8 route than circular, and you'll walk one short path again on your return. The walk gradually gains altitude and eventually takes through the National Trust woodland up and over Helsby Hill, where you can get magnificent views over Cheshire and the river Dee to the distant Welsh hills from the viewpoint at the top shown in the photo. Finding the correct path on the way down can be a little tricky but using the App should keep you on course.

The few stiles and most of the many gates are in good order. It's unlikely you will meet with any farm animals, but you may come across some horses.

The walk should be suitable for older children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs as the stiles seem to be dog friendly, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best, especially if there has recently been a lot of rain. There should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts.

On your route there are occasional bench seats but no other facilities except for those at the pub at the start and finish.
If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
