A very peaceful walk starting in Ardleigh, where you follow beautiful paths and bridleways through the countryside before arriving at Dedham. This Essex village is very picturesque, with its tea rooms, pub, superb church and also an arts and craft centre which is worth a visit. If you want to extend the walk, you can visit Flatford which is equally beautiful, then return to Dedham to continue the walk.

The rest of the walk is again through the countryside, passing through Foxash Estate which is basically a huge nursery and a farming area. Careful navigation is required through here as the paths are not very well-marked, but just follow the arrows on the waymark photos and you will be fine.

Halfway around, I was going to confirm that this is an excellent walk through quiet and varied countryside. BUT - you note that careful navigation is required through the Foxash Estate. This is an understatement. Between waymarks 29 and 32 the paths have not been maintained and go from being overgrown and impossible to discern to becoming ultimately impassable. And believe me I tried! Spoke to a couple of sympathetic smallholders, but no way through, and had to abort and backtrack to the main road. What a pity!
