This is a flat walk through open countryside and along the Shropshire Union Canal. It can get a bit muddy along the canal footpath, so a good pair of walking boots or even Wellingtons is recommended, alternatively you can walk along the road to miss out the muddy bits.

The walk can be started from the Bhurtpore Inn or, if you don't fancy a beer after your walk, you can start from Woodcotthill Lane just down from the pub.

25/3/2021....Nice walk, waymark 2 is approx. 25 metres on the right, no stile, just an opening which takes you to a stile on the right. This walk is very muddy when you get to the canal, i would suggest wearing gaters, & a walking stick for balance. Where mentioned on waymark 12, the houses no longer have the year date 1933, you will find two houses set back off the road. The steps down to the canal are about 100 metres on the left after the houses with steps going down to canal bridge 14. Nice walk. Easy not really challenging. Great for all levels of walking abilities. Not good for wheelchairs or buggies.

All in all a pretty decent walk with great directions. Some of the public footpaths are grown over and the stiles are sometimes difficult to see. Our dog just managed to make it through the bottom rung of the gate at Stile 13 and he's a chunky springador. I think any dog the size of a spaniel could make it. Lots of boggy bits on the canal as mentioned so definitely don't use trainers (like me) or you'll have wet and muddy feet. There is also loads of cow dung literally everywhere so watch your step!

Beware of the cattle and bulls in the fields on this route. It's not always possible to use the gates mentioned, sometimes you have to go around the edges of the fields to find an alternative way to continue. Also, the stile at point 13 does not allow any way to get dogs through as there is no gap in hedges and all fenced off. We had to lift our dogs over the stile (and they are golden retrievers, so not an easy task!). That said, the route description is perfect.
