This circular walk starts from St John the Baptist Church in the village of Aston Cantlow. This church is famed for being where Shakespeare's parents were married in 1557. Leaving the village, the route follows the River Alne across countryside, eventually arriving at Wootton Wawen. Besides Wootton Hall there is the oldest church in Warwickshire, dating back to the Saxons in the eighth century. Many of the old construction features can still be seen inside the church. The route then leaves Wootton Wawen and follows the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal for a while, back towards Aston Cantlow.

Fabulous walk today. Very clear. Lots of interesting stop offs. Loved it. King's Head does amazing food.

A nice varied walk, including open fields, woodland, river and canal, and with only two stretches of traffic roads. It's worth mentioning that refreshments are also available at Yew Tree Farm shop /cafe between 6 and 7. In winter it could become boggy and impassable between 2 and 3.
