From the pretty village of Aston le Walls, this walk takes in some interesting features as well as lovely surrounds. For a time, the perimeter of the old airfield in Chipping Warden is followed, part of it now a conservation area. There is one fairly steep climb in pastureland that affords glorious views over beautiful rural Northamptonshire landscape. The perimeter country road of another part of the airfield, now a business complex housing various industrial units supplying local employment, is walked towards Appletree. The medieval village site with its uneven surface, conjures up imaginings of its secret mysteries and it now accommodates campers.

Although interesting at any time of the year, the amount of hard surface walking of this route makes it particularly ideal for winter.
