From the marina a good path follows the Forth and Clyde Canal for a short distance. The narrow-boats provide a good photo opportunity. The path turns through a pretty woodland area before zigzagging up to Croy Hill, which affords a wide panorama towards the Kilsyth Hills. You are now walking on the course of the Antonine Wall. You then drop down to the village of Croy and up to the Roman fort at Bar Hill, where there are the remains of the bath-house and the fort with its well. A short trip down to the pretty village of Twechar is followed by a return along the Forth and Clyde Canal to the marina.
