Avening - Gatcombe - Crackstone - Westrip Farmhouse - Avening

Start in the village of Avening (south-east of Nailsworth and north of Tetbury). From here, you head off on a track through Gatcombe Park (Princess Anne's residence; evidence of eventing, surprise, surprise). From here a stretch on road leads to a track by an airfield, then through fields, leading down to Cherington Pond. More tracks and lanes get you back to the start.

Did this walk today 30th November 2014 lovely day but the ground was extremely muddy - ankle deep in places ( especially way point 9 -10) Enjoyed the walk and instructions were very good but the slipping and sliding and the mud !! spoilt the experience Too busy looking at my feet to appreciate the views will try again in the spring / Summer John Bee

This was a very beautiful walk on a beautiful sunny day in July. Went slightly wrong at 20/21 because the fields were being harvested. Picnic lunch at Cherrington Ponds, with our feet in the water, was delightful!
