The walk is through the Brechfa Forest, one of the quietest in Wales. The forest is being opened up for bikes, but at the moment it is peaceful and quiet. I hope to go back and bring more walks from this area. The variety of mosses and ferns make this walk interesting to nature lovers and in the autumn there are many fungi to be seen. Birds are plentiful, including red kites and goshawks.

This walk was perfect for our 4 pups. If you have hounds that like to chase cyclists you may want to keep them on a lead for the first part of the trail which shares a path with the bikers however if your pups keep themselves to themselves it's not a problem. Once on the footpath-only trail we enjoyed a very quiet and beautiful walk with great views, no stiles and plenty of spots to stop and enjoy our sandwiches in peace.

Thoroughly enjoyed this walk on a Sunday afternoon with 4 pups. The route had a slight variation due to the trails being opened up for biking but was easy to follow the forestry commission trail. Very pleasant and once we were off the shared path - very quiet too.
