A mixed walk, close to the Golden Valley, which heads in and out of woodland, across farmland and through parkland in a quiet corner of Herefordshire. It is in the shadow of the Black Mountains and there are great views to be seen across to the mountains. With another big attraction close by, this area does tend to get overlooked, which is a great shame.

The whole area is very isolated and you really feel you are out in the sticks as you walk round the area. Bacton itself, at the start of the walk, is a tiny village and apart from the church, there is not a lot there. Other places visited on the walk are equally small. All in all, you will come across three churches, at Bacton, St Margaret's and Newton during the course of the walk, just a handful of houses. As you would expect, there is no pub on the walk itself, but there is a pub not too far away at Abbey Dore, only a short drive away, for a well-deserved drink after the walk.
