Winter time poses problems with muddy tracks. Forest walks can usually be relied on to provide good walking. These woods in the Penallt / Trelleck / Chepstow area have the advantage of being mature mixed woods, providing a wealth of wildlife. There are many birds resident as well as deer and badger. The woodland is also rich in fungi and mosses.
