With a start at sea level, Ben More is one of the Munros where you climb the full height, but the effort is certainly worthwhile. Many people will go up and down by the direct route from the shores of Loch na Keal, which now has a path most of the way, but a slightly longer route over the subsidiary top of A’ Chioch gives a better outing.

One option is to climb onto the ridge of Beinn Fhada and follow it round Gleann na Beinne Fada to the col, but it is probably best to ascend to the col through the glen itself before climbing to the summit of A’Chioch. Beyond A’Chioch, the slopes to the main summit are rougher and the ridge better defined with some easy scrambling, but there is nothing giving any particular difficulty. A direct return is then possible via the north-west ridge.
