From the car park at the sanctuary, once we have dragged ourselves away from the breathtaking panoramas, we can either climb the steps to the church or take the little funicular railway. From here we will make our way along forest paths and later more open country, eventually to reach the ancient church of St Vicent d'Espinalbet and its nearby spring. Now we begin our route back by climbing through wonderful forest, full of birdsong and with every chance of a glimpse of the black woodpecker, the emblem of the Cadi-Moixeró Natural Park. We will return to the Sanctuary along the so-called route of the water. This follows the route that water is piped from its mountain source to the Sanctuary. We shall finish our hike along the ridge on the southern side of the Sanctuary, once more enjoying the spectacular views.
