Bishop's Palace Wells - Dinder - Croscombe and Back along the Ridge

You pass to the side of the Bishop's Palace with its glistening moat and head out across fields to the village of Dinder, continuing to the village of Croscombe. You then have a single, steepish climb to Furzy Sleight before taking the ridge all the way back.

7/5/2023 - Michael Corfield

We did this walk in July 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The route uses well worn and maintained paths, the instructions were still accurate even though some of the landmarks/features had changed/disappeared. The section that most needs an update is around waypoint 23 - we didn't see the kiln and without the walking world app I'm not sure I would have worked out how to get to 24.

Excellent walk, and not too muddy yesterday (18th April), it was a beautiful day. I appreciate the great directions, as I can get lost in a phone box!

As Charlie says, the car park does indeed turn into a Waitrose carpark. We started from here, and paid £5.40 for 6 hours, as we were going into Wells after the walk. At point 8, there is a layby to park for free. So to the walk :-) Very muddy through gates/stiles/kissing gates going from one field to another at this time of year (October) mainly before steep climb halfway round, after that that too bad. The paths between are pretty good and firm. Plenty of interesting things to see on the way round. Excellent walking details
