Starting from the centre of Blackness, where an infrequent bus service turns, the walk follows the coast along very rural surroundings, away from roads, then suddenly enters Bo'ness. Here is a mix of manufacturing industry and leisure industry, with two boatyards, a timber yard and food processing plants among many. The walk finishes on a almost rural note, near the Bo'ness Steam Railway and the remains of Bo'ness Harbour. Now part of the John Muir Way, look out foe purple and white waymarks.
