This walk does not reach the summit of Pen-y-Gadair (though the option is there if you want it), but keeps mainly within Mynydd Du Forest. There are good views from the rides and plenty of birdlife. Do not be fooled by the low mileage: there are two steep awkward climbs and one steep descent, making this a moderate walk and to some, a challenge. Walking-poles are recommended for this walk.
