This is another walk in the Blaenavon area, one that takes the walker over the tops of the Coity Mountain as well as Mynydd Varteg Fawr and Mynydd Varteg Fach. In some places the paths do not follow the same line as those on the map and are sometimes non-existent, so navigating skills and the ability to use a compass are necessary. The views make it all worthwhile. The abundant lichen proclaims that the air is pure and the heather-clad slopes are beautiful in August. If you like to eat whimberries, this is the place to go.
