The walk offers a mix of shady, wooded cuttings and sunny, open embankments on an old railway line, together with a loop into the rich Cheshire pastures. The very attractive Walk 166 uses a little of The Whitegate Way, whereas this walk covers practically all of it.

I completed this route today, only problem I had was, between waypoints 13 - 16, the landowner has put up a series of electric fences to control livestock, but has mad no provision for walkers, I stepped over them to continue on paths, but felt uneasy, as I don't know the law about these fences. Nice walk though Les

We did this walk on 04/09/11 and what a good walk it was, very dog friendly as there were only a couple or so stiles. Just to point out there is no timber laid down in a muddy patch. Many thanks Barbara, Jeff & Millie the dog

7/19/2009 - Gary Crossley

18/07/09- Gary Crossley. Fantastic walk and ideal for a blustery day as the majority of it is on an old railway bed and well protected from the elements. Parts of the the way between 5 & 6 were extremely muddy. But other than that another fine JG walk. Gary
